I'm reinstalling now and am terrified that I'll lose the stuff I couldn't fit on my backup hd — Jonathan. If it's a reinstall and not an update then I suspect it would clear any data and reset back to how it was purchased. However if your having a problem it's best to backup users files off the machine if possible, because even with the Reinstall Just OS X, there could be complications if there is a issue with the drive or it's formatting.
