Best world war 2 games for xbox 360

As is the case with the previously listed Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 , those looking for more strategy in their World War II games should consider taking a look at Company of Heroes. As such, many games have attempted to replicate the atmosphere of the chaotic battle, but few have been as successful as Medal of Honor: Frontline. Some consider Medal of Honor: Frontline the peak of the Medal of Honor series, and all it takes is playing through the Normandy invasion to see why.

In this atmospheric neo-noir game, players take on the role of Irishman Sean Devlin , who works to sabotage the Nazis during their occupation of Paris, France in Devlin works alongside the French resistance, with the ultimate goal of liberating France from its invaders.

The game not only popularized the first-person shooter genre, but it also explored the disturbing theme of Nazi occultism, and let players do battle with a savage robo-Hitler. The final game on our list is Wolfenstein: The New Order , a reboot of the franchise that began with the previously mentioned Wolfenstein 3D. Wolfenstein: The New Order earned critical-acclaim for its brutal first-person shooter combat and shocking story, successfully rejuvenating the dormant Wolfenstein franchise in the process, as a Wolfenstein: The New Order sequel is reportedly already in development.

While there have been many other World War II video games released over the years, the aforementioned nine games seem like the cream of the crop. With excitement over Battalion , it appears as though there is an appetite for more World War II games, especially in this new era of video game consoles. If Battalion is a success, perhaps other developers will take notice, and we'll see classic franchises like Battlefield and Call of Duty go back to World War II.

Which World War II game is your favorite? The series in general has seen many different iterations and experiments, but all of that learning finally comes to together here. As official support has waned, a dedicated mod-community has arisen to provide scenarios ranging from WW1 to the Cold War. If we ever see a new Men of War game, it will be world-class. No conversation on digital wargaming can exist without starting, ending or at the very least, co-existing with, a nod towards the beast set in the east.

No-one ever said it would be accessible or easy to get to grips with— but it is the ultimate military simulation of war in the eastern front of World War 2. Gamers can engage in massive, dramatic campaigns, including intense battles involving thousands of units with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

Factors such as supply, fatigue, experience, morale and the skill of your divisional, corps and army leaders all play an important part in determining the results at the front line. The game comes with 4 massive campaigns as well as many smaller scenarios all with different strategic and operational challenges. This is not for the faint-hearted. With the creation of the Ardennes Assault campaign, Company of Heroes 2 now boasts one of the best replayable single player experiences in modern WW2 strategy games.

Ardennes Assault provides players with a strategic territory-capture meta-game layered over the single-player missions; including semi-random events and time-based objectives that change with each playthrough. You have four Companies to command of which you can utilize 3 in each campaign run and hard choices in an Iron Man setting that forces the player to think through each move and live with sub-optimal strategies.

Infinitely flexible, this game has the potential to contain all other wargames inside… a bit like Google and the internet, I guess?

The fourth iteration of the series may have only offered a modest amount of improvements, but it keeps the series in place as one of the best titles for deep, operational level warfare. Whether you have all the previous editions as I do, or you are a newcomer just starting out, this game is a must buy.

Now toss in over included scenarios, online play not to mention a Jim-dandy scenario editor, and plunking down a few shekels is an even easier decision to make. Yes, I know, most film sequels are never as good as the original, so what are the odds here? This latest TOAW edition has indeed made an almost perfect classic even better, well deserving a five star rating if not an entire constellation. Two thumbs up for a job very well done.
